The Top 100 Civil Liberties Advocacy Blogs
I'm number 23.
I'll be pretty busy for the next few weeks and my access to the internet will be scarce. I should've expected it; it seems when my traffic spikes, I haven't the time to blog.

Light blogging today, so I'll just start out with a bunch of links for your reading pleasure:
The AP calls the Democratic nomination for Obama, and amid rumors of her campaign coming to an end, Hillary says she is willing to be Obama's VP.
"I have asked Father Michael Pfleger, Pastor of St. Sabina’s Parish, to step back from his obligations there and take leave for a couple of weeks from his pastoral duties, effective today."
Happy couple is surprised to find out they've been divorced for ten years.
PETA wants to lease a jail in order to show how Lobsters are like people, or something.
Is this more of the nanny-state, fighting back the tide of destructive culture, or is it for the children?
Chicks dig your Camaro Prius. Then again, they're probably lying.
"There is a line as public defenders we cannot walk across. The judicial system is crumbling.''
Trollbait: Is shooting up heroin a right? Don't worry it's Canada.
And this is just weird.
One more thing: Krauthammer, the Global Warming agnostic.

For a good example of "progressives" rationalizing and defending Neville Chamberlain's and Germany's behavior just prior to WWII:
So, the great appeaser actually turns out to be a sly master of realpolitick.
I was gone longer than expected, but regular blogging will resume tomorrow.

I had to delete my Feedburner feed because it was causing me problems, like being unable to edit anything through Feedburner or Bloglines.
Here's the new feed, hopefully this will take care of it.
If you subscribed using the original atom or blogger feed you should be fine.

Please go here, register and behold what Austin Bay has managed to do with the internet.
It's a must-need refresher for those still trying to keep up with things in Iraq, and priceless for those who are just beginning to pay attention. The whole first segment is just over 20 minutes, and it's anything but boring. I had to watch the first part twice because I was still in awe over the fact that I was watching more than a video, clicking on all the links and browsing through chapters.
At least watch the guest segment: the video is informative and thought-provoking, and the whole application includes accompanying slides including links to sources, complete with a poll, a notepad, and feedback options.
Did I say it was free? It is. Surprisingly it has no ads given the quality. Truly an impressive public service.
This is great work, do check it out.
We have studies and you have dick jokes?-Say Uncle in response to this guy's cognitive dissonance, from a post on what is no doubt a pathetic attempt at traffic whoring.

So what am I supposed to do? Give you a fool today? Or rather, make you the fool?
Who cares, John McCain has an awesome new ad.

A busy news day...
The NYC Times Square bombing... Obama and Hillary dueling it out... talk of rioting the Democratic national convention should Hillary "win"...
The list goes on and on today.
Unfortunately I am still pressed for time; I'm just wishing I wasn't right now.

I have a few regular AF readers. Not anymore:
The Air Force is tightening restrictions on which blogs its troops can read, cutting off access to just about any independent site with the word "blog" in its web address. It's the latest move in a larger struggle within the military over the value -- and hazards -- of the sites. At least one senior Air Force official calls the squeeze so "utterly stupid, it makes me want to scream."I've been thinking about starting a new blog, and should that happen, it will be something quite different, and it won't have 'blog' in the name. It's still just a rough idea, so don't expect any changes here for about another year.

Many of you have been made aware of this new VPC blog, which has provided us plenty of laughs and material just in the short time it's been around.
But have a look at this post on John Browning:
It is the opinion of the VPC that everything John Browning touched should be destroyed: all guns based on his designs, his ancestral home, and the entire state of Utah. His family, up to three degrees removed, should be liquidated so that his genetic material may never harm society again.Really now, it was funny the first couple of days, it's not anymore. Whoever is posing as an official VPC blogger needs to either do a more persuasive job at it or stop. You're making us look bad.

I'm pretty busy today, and will likely be tomorrow as well, so expect some light blogging.
Just be sure you vote today if your state's holding primaries. Or don't, if you're sitting out on principle. And don't vote if the extent of your knowledge on the candidates is limited to their appearance, cause that aint democracy.

I haven't really had time this week to think through the news and provide any meaningful or insightful commentary, coupled with the fact that I picked up a nasty cold, I frankly don't feel like it. That's how it'll probably be for the next few days.
Nonetheless, interesting stories are interesting stories, so for your reading and viewing pleasure:
The NYT faithfully does its part for the anti-war crowd.
Global Warming also causes cold weather, just so you know.
The nanny-state protecting you from idling cars.
Voter disenfranchisement top priority for Democrats; for Hillary, not so much.
Surprise: Chris Mathews has a mancrush on Obama.
AP: writing the news of tomorrow, today.
And a video for you internet junkies (language warning).

I said I wasn't going to blog today, but things happen. I was going to go check out a gun show, and since I still have time, I'll be on my way.
Back tomorrow. Until then, I ask you, does stuff like this qualify as vigilante justice, or awful parenting?

Well, in yet another of my minor confrontations with the limits of today's technology, I will remember to plan for the worst and hope for... well, something marginally better.
I don't know if it was on my end or my service provider's, but my connectivity has been less predictable and no more reliable than the weather.
So here's the PSA: The Second Amendment Carnival has been postponed to Monday morning, early. I would post it Sunday, but then it would pass by largely unnoticed, and that's of course if I can actually get online. I guess that means I'll accept more submissions through tomorrow.
