It was my second time doing something like this, and boy do I wish I had something better than Windows Movie Maker. On the other hand, I thoroughly enjoyed doing it -- I can see how it can be addicting.

Clinton shamelessly panders to Montana gun owners

I guess it's good news, per Uncle's thinking. It's probably one of her only options left in Montana -- outflank Obama on the one issue he has little to no wiggle room.

When it comes to gun rights, the senator says she did not support gun licensing in New York, and does not support the registration of handguns nationally. But she adds that she does support Second Amendment rights.

"I don't think there's any contradiction between defending Second Amendment rights and the rights of lawful gun owners and trying to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and gang members and people who unfortunately have mental challenges."

Funny, she forgot to mention her AWB renewal idea. Then again, "assault rifles" are probably only owned by such people.

Hillary Clinton's new ad

Counting all the votes from Florida and Michigan (which are now only getting half their votes counted), she's correct, but not by much.

It's ballsy, I will say that. The ad will run in Montana, but I think it's targeting superdelegates more so than Montana Democrats.

The United Democratic Party

They're united alright.

If you've been paying attention to the exit polls of the Democratic primaries for the last month or so, you'll notice that Hillary's supporters seemingly hate Obama more than they hate McCain, and vice-versa.

How a convention will suddenly unite them is beyond me.

Maybe Obama should think about distancing himself from Chicago

Rezko, Wright, Ayers, and now Pfleger. Who's next, and how long can he keep "distancing" from his idiot supporters?

Obama said he was "deeply disappointed" by Pfleger's comments.

"As I have traveled this country, I've been impressed not by what divides us, but by all that that unites us," he said in a statement. "That is why I am deeply disappointed in Father Pfleger's divisive, backward-looking rhetoric, which doesn't reflect the country I see or the desire of people across America to come together in common cause."

I guess it's a good thing for Obama that most of America isn't judging him by the friends he keeps.

Pfleger's got a history of crossing the state/church line, and he's not shy about it...

Seen here at the War on Guns and Armed and Safe, Pfleger is yet another extremist. Here's one example:

During an address at an anti-gun rally in front of Chuck's, Rev. Michael Pfleger, pastor of St. Sabina's Church, exhorted the crowd to "drag" shop owner, John Riggio, from his shop "like a rat" and "snuff" him. Rev. Pfleger went on to tell the crowd that legislators that vote against gun control legislation should be "snuffed" as well. As many know, "snuff" is slang for especially violent murder.

And then there's the money, $225,000 in grants to Pfleger's programs received after donating to Obama.

Update: this is the second time the Archdiocese of Chicago has condemned statements from Pfleger. The first involved the death threat quoted above. Google it.

McCain's new scandal

Most of the "scandals" involving McCain heretofore have been weak, almost as weak as oh, Steven Segal's acting. But this one may just pick up some traction in the mainstream media:

McCain, who has made fighting special-interest projects a centerpiece of his presidential campaign, inserted $14.3 million in a 2003 defense bill to buy land around Luke Air Force Base in a provision sought by SunCor Development, the largest of about 50 landowners near the base. SunCor representatives, upset with a state law that restricted development around Luke, met with McCain's staff to lobby for funding, according to John Ogden, SunCor's president at the time.

The Air Force later paid SunCor $3 million for 122 acres near the base. It was the highest single land transaction of the private lots purchased by the government — three times the county's assessed value and twice the military's estimated value. SunCor also donated another 122 acres. Alan Bunnell, a spokesman for SunCor's parent company, Pinnacle West Capital, said the donation was meant to minimize the company's tax bill and enhance the value of adjacent property it owns.

McCain has long-standing ties to SunCor and Pinnacle West:

• McCain's campaigns have received $224,000 since 1998 from donors connected to Pinnacle West, including $104,100 for his current presidential run, according to a USA TODAY analysis of campaign-finance data compiled by the non-partisan CQ MoneyLine.

I don't think this is really a big deal, and if it is, it probably has less to do with McCain and more to do with the suits securing the land deals. But what do I care, I'm don't even like McCain.

Will I hold my nose and pull the lever for him? Once I figure out who the lesser evil is, I'll let you know. Until then, I'm supporting John McClane.

Cindy Sheehan files for Pelosi's seat

In the spirit of Democratic party fragmentation, GO CINDY!

Getting on the ballot will be the easy part for Sheehan. If she becomes a recognized candidate, she'll be challenging one of the best-known and most powerful Democrats in the country in Pelosi, a 10-term incumbent who routinely collects around 80 percent of the vote in the San Francisco-only district.

Election challenges are nothing new to Pelosi, who has faced token Republican opposition in most of her November races, along with occasional primary challenges. But since she beat former San Francisco Supervisor Harry Britt in the 1987 special election to replace the late Rep. Sala Burton, Pelosi's political resume has been short of opponents anyone other than local political junkies has ever heard of.

Kos calls Hillary a Racist?

More or less. I think he was still experiencing the effects from his flaming red-hot tantrum, induced by the news that Hillary beat the Obamessiah (compounded by the fact that Fox called it first -- and was right). But I guess that describes most of the nutroots; without outrage, where is the motivation to blog?

Nevertheless a Hillary win, for some reason, doesn't really matter:

Remember, this is no longer a normal race. We're no longer talking delegate counts since bizarrely, the measure of victory in this primary has been discarded. We're no longer talking popular vote, since Clinton can't win that without throwing in a bunch of hypothetical "ifs" -- as in, "IF you count Michigan, and IF you count Florida, and IF you don't count the caucuses, and IF you don't count weekend contests, and IF you don't count black people..." You get the idea.

No I don't get the idea. Obama can make the same argument, only if he makes it, it would be true: IF you don't count women, Obama has the popular vote. Hillary can't win without not counting black people? She has more votes than Obama, counting actual votes. Black people who voted included. Suggesting Hillary is discounting the black votes, to gain a talking point, is very unfair. But I guess you just have to pick up what Kos is puttin down or something. You get the idea.

If you do, then you probably get the idea that it's not about votes in a democratic process, it's about electability, which actually is, er, money.

Which campaign looks more electable on this front? The campaign that is flush with cash and can easily raise more, or the campaign that is scrambling to get out of debt?

Last I checked, Americans elected candidates, not campaigns.

I don't know who said it, but the argument was made that Hillary has an advantage over Obama. All of her skeletons have been brought out of the closet, in plain view. Everybody knows about Hillary. Obama on the other hand, is the mysterious Dr. Hope and Mr. Change. And come time for the general, he's going to be Dr. Bitter and Mr. Wright's and Mr. Ayers' friend, and God knows what else.

This contest is the logical reductio of the identity-group fetishization that they've been peddling for years. They're just feeling suckered because they plumped for the establishment diversity candidate and then found themselves out-diversified.

Indeed. If Hillary's a racist, Kos is a misogynist.

Hillary concerned about activist base, Nazi comparisons expected any time now.

Browsing the leftosphere, I came across this headline at TPM:

"Hillary Privately Blasted "The Activist Base Of The Democratic Party" For Caucus Defeats"

And her offending statement:

"We have been less successful in caucuses because it brings out the activist base of the Democratic Party. MoveOn didn't even want us to go into Afghanistan. I mean, that's what we're dealing with."

Oh my, quite the blasphemer.

Naturally, the Daily Kos is up in arms over it, as well as the Huffington Post.

Hillary's campaign claims that the activists from MoveOn.org "were engaged in acts of intimidation against her supporters: 'There have been well documented instances of intimidation in the Nevada and the Texas caucuses...'"

Far leftists engaged in acts of intimidation? Preposterous I say! You know, I would pay good money to see her get the nomination.

Obama running out the clock?

Just a thought.

From his piss-poor performance at the debate to his gracious display of sign language, I think he takes comfort in the fact that he sees the finish line.

At a rally, where he somewhat ironically, speaks of people "stirring up controversy."

Cute. Very presidential. Certainly this is what Americans expect from a guy who not only transcends, but will cure all the negative stuff about America, through a mature, open and honest conversation with America.

For a guy sorely lacking in the experience department, Barack Friedrich Engels Obama doubtless will make the country at ease with such mature displays of statesmanship, not to mention good judgment.

I have to agree with Ace on this:

Could be a bit of a trap. He keeps claiming that it's trivial to bring up nonsense like whether or not he buddies around with terrorists (let's not bicker and argue about 'oo killed 'oo). It's possible that he did this intentionally to stir up debate over a trivial issue so he can 1) change the subject and 2) cry out, "See? See the sorts of silliness they're using as distractions? [hyperlink added]

Update: I don't know how it is not Obama's attempt at bird humor. Listen to the speech, the tone of the speech, the audience, and look at that tweetie just taunting Hillary:

The pro-gun vote

Regarding Hillary's and Obama's recent attempts to get it; is like

an election race of Pat Robertson versus James Dobson, each of them appearing at organic grocery stores and Starbucks throughout Massachusetts, with each candidate insisting that he alone deserves the vote of gay-marriage advocates.
